Atenas is famous for an article in a 1994 National Geographic magazine that proclaimed that it had the best climate in the world As a matter of fact the slogan El Mejor Clima del Mundo can be seen on every Atenas bus The daily temperatures here are usually around 80 degrees and at night go down only into the 60s It rains here of course during the rainy season but not to excess With only 5 000 inhabitants Atenas is a laid back little place with agriculture as its main income stream it is surrounded by coffee plantations Land for sale in Atenas Costa Rica can be developed for either commercial or residential purposes There are no restrictions to foreigners owning land in this country and the locals are warm and welcoming as are the expats who make Atenas their retirement home
Practically every town and city in Costa Rica or indeed in all of Central America starts out with a central plaza which is where a Farmer s Market Is held at least once a week There is plenty to do here mountain biking is quite popular This is a given as the town is situated in the foothills of a mountain range and the coffee trees all grow on hillsides There is also a swimming pool Atenas land is purchased by folks who wish to retire to a place that s near enough to a big city San Jos so that it s easy to go on a weekend shopping spree if desired but far enough away that all the hazards and plagues of big city life just don t exist here
