Casa Plomo 4 bedroom luxury home in Surfside

Casa Plomo in Surfside/Potrero is a brand-new 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home with a swimming pool and a gorgeous poolside bar. Completed in January 2021, Casa Plomo is the first “baby” of the new year in this market, and it’s long on wow factor.

As you walk in through the main gate (or drive in through the remotely operated gate to the two parking spaces), there’s a gorgeous, 10-meter pool to the right, surrounded by gardens and a deck area, with an innovative bar on the far end. (How do you say “pool party” in Spanish?)

To the left is the gorgeous lead-gray home (“plomo” means “lead”). In the huge main room, with soaring ceilings, the kitchen is to the left, the dining area in the middle, and the living room to the right. Brand-new stainless-steel appliances include a five-burner gas range, a big refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a microwave. A kitchen island contains the sink, with granite counters to match the rest of the kitchen.

The dining area contains a huge Guanacaste dining table, with a bench on one side and chairs on the other. The living room is furnished with a modern sofa and chairs and an entertainment center with a 71-inch TV.

The four bedrooms all have doors opening on the pool area and the central courtyard. All have king-size beds, and two have attached bathrooms, while two share a bathroom. Every room in the house is air-conditioned. All bedrooms provide ample closet and storage space.

Bathrooms are large and elegant, with quartz countertops, his-and-hers sinks, and large rain showers. Walls are made of stone and ceramic.

A laundry room contains a washer, dryer and sink. Security features at the house include alarms and exterior cameras.

Next to the pool, there’s a lounge area with an outdoor sofa and chairs, plus a tanning deck with poolside lounge chairs. But the most unusual feature is a bar that serves as a second kitchen — a big fridge, a big barbecue grill, granite countertops, and a sink — with a dining/drinking area containing tall, bar-style tables and chairs. On the rear wall is a unique black steel wine/liquor rack that is as artsy as it is functional.

The fourth bathroom is outdoors, next to the bar, but unlike the typical bar bathroom, it contains a shower, allowing people to wash off the sand from the beach or chlorine from the pool. If you throw a pool party, nobody has to go inside the house to use the bathroom.

Venturing out from Casa Plomo, Surfside
Surfside is a southern suburb of Potrero, popular among ex-pats and packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and tour offices. Casa Plomo is a short walk from the “main drag” in Potrero, a short but lively street lined with eateries and ending at the beach (a 10-minute walk from the house).

Surfside is on the main, paved highway between Flamingo and Potrero — a beautiful drive with access to Tamarindo in one direction and Playas del Coco in the other. The international airport in Liberia is less than an hour away, as is every other convenience imaginable, including banks, grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, and medical clinics.

All the adventures for which Costa Rica is famous are within easy striking distance of here, including fishing, scuba diving, sunset cruises, ziplining, ATV rentals, wildlife rescue centers, and much more. Within a two-hour drive are several national parks, including Rincón de la Vieja (with an active volcano), Las Baulas (with sea turtles), and Barra Honda (with fascinating caves).
